Day 4 starts out with the early morning ice foot bath.

After working all day up the trail yesterday, we had a solid commute to the work site.

Further up the canyon, views abound!

Since today was our last work day, the entire crew wanted to start off by visiting Blackmare Lake. We skipped over some work and headed directly up the trail.

The upper walls of the canyon have these crazy looking shark tooth formations.

On the final approach to the lake, we crossed lots of lingering snow. Notice that Dan had become quite attached to his saw and was unwilling to let anyone else carry it.

At the lake, Kirsten takes in the view of Square Top Peak.

With a stout wind blowing across the recently thawed lake, our lunch spot was quite chilly.

Obligatory group photo.

After lunch we headed back for an afternoon of trail work. We stopped at this stream crossing to replenish out water supply.

Hike, work, hike work, you know the drill.

Shelley had never worked on an ITA crew prior to this trip but by this time she was a skilled sawyer.

Kirsten in her happy place!

Dan pauses for a moment to enjoy a refreshing beverage.

After another long day, we headed back to camp to prepare for tomorrow’s return to civilization.
