I’m still trying to catch up on posting adventures from last week. I had decided to try an assault on Clair Peak from McCall, something I had never tried before. I departed the house on a mountain bike and headed up the Crestline Trail. My goal, get close enough by mountain bike for a short hike to the summit. About the 7000 foot level, the trail closed in with snow and I was unable to skirt around.

I ditched the bike behind this tree and set off by foot. I was still about 3 miles short of Clair Peak.

Right away, I realized the going by foot across the diminishing snow pack was going to be a challenge.

The views from the ridge were pretty sweet and defiantly worth the trip.

Helpful sign! At least I found the trail!

After hiking a while, I realized that this was not going to be a good idea without snowshoes so I turned back.

Back in the neighborhood, here is the snow pile update. I think it will make it to June!

Later, I needed a hike so opted for a stroll though Ponderosa Park.

The marsh is always good for some fine views. Notice the fresh snow on the trees in the background.

Ponderosa Reflections.

Finally, a little further up the trail I ran into this guy. It is a Sandhill Crane which must have a nest nearby because he was trying to lure me off his area. Around these parts, we also call them Teradaktyls because that is what they sound like!
