Warren Wagon Road – Valley County, Idaho

Now that the Waterfall Trail series is complete, it is time to catch up on my adventures since I returned. This time of year I ride up the various mountain roads to see how far the snow line has receded. Since these are frequent rides, I generally don’t bother to document them with a blog. But….. since my Florida buddies are already suffering down in the heat and humidity, I thought that sharing my chilly ride might be fun!

Warrant Wagon Road leaves McCall and winds along Payette Lake. This time of year there is almost no traffic on this buttery smooth road.

Just past the lake, Road Closed! This is where the winter maintenance ends and the snowmobile parking lots provides access to the mountains in the winter.

After very gradually climbing for a mile or two I start dodging the snow patches.

I love doing the Upper Payette Lake Loop but not today!

Another mile or so down the road, time to turn back. It is another 5 or so miles to the summit. Generally, they plow the road to Warren for Memorial Day Weekend.
