Tour de Art – McCall, Idaho

I arrived here the other day by bus so I needed to clear my driveway so I could get my truck out of the garage.

It’s normally a pretty big job and this year proved to be no exception. Although not as much snow, it was set up like concrete. Luckily, my buddy Tom dropped by today to help me finish the job.

After finishing the driveway project, Tom, Finn, and I decided to take a neighborhood walk. I dubbed it the “Tour de Art” as we strolled through the old stomping grounds for my friend Art. Ironically, though invited, Art did not participate in today’s Tour de Art.

Tucked back into the trees and hillside of this neighborhood is what I consider a historic home.

A little know fact is that Art’s dad is considered the Grandfather of engineered wood products and invented the manufactured truss product used in this small cabin. As you can see prominently featured in the architecture of this building, this manufactured truss is an early prototype. Probably at least 50 years old, this prototype has easily handled everything that 50 winters in McCall could throw at it.

Today is a beautiful day in paradise although a little chilly.  This morning temperatures at sunrise were around -1.

A little further down the road, this quintessential McCall cabin is also the former home of Art’s mom Kathy. To say that Art has deep family roots in this community would be an understatement.
