Payette Point – Valley County, Idaho

I’m back in McCall for a spell as it is the annual February taste winter trip. This year it is a bit surprising the lack of snow. Usually the snow walls along our community drive are 4 or 5 feet tall by now. The ice rink on the hill seems to make up for that.

Craig, Tom, Ruby, and Dakota picked me up as my truck is still snowed in the garage. We headed just down the road for that old winter favorite, Payette Point.

Tom, Craig, and the puppies weave their way up the mountain.

Higher up near the summit, the snow was a little deeper and fluffier.

This is the ledge right below the summit and with the icy conditions, no rock climbs were made to the top.

Dakota and Ruby….. both love the snow!

Unfortunately, no views this year. On the way down, my downhill leg muscles suffered as I paid the price for all the flatland hiking I have done over the past few months. My Idaho mountain men friends enjoyed the heck out of my flatlander struggles. I can’t wait until cycling season starts!
