Grayton Beach State Park – Grayton Beach, Florida

New Year, new adventures!

Its time to load up the van and head down the Gulf Coast to see what Florida holds.

What a gorgeous day on the coast!

Today’s adventure is a mellow drive easterly along the Gulf with occasional stops to shoot the white sand beaches. It is a beautiful day and although a bit chilly, there is not even a puff of wind. Those waves do not look good for the surfing crowd.

I still haven’t gotten used to the white sand as visually it feels a little like snow while the temperature feels like summer in McCall.

The camping in these parts it pretty civilized compared to what I am used to from the Frank Church Wilderness. Paved roads, lots of rules and caution signs.

The campground is located along this lake and the beach is about a mile walk.

Another helpful sign….. “Alligators are dangerous. Do not swim with the alligators”. Good to know! I guess I will not be skinny dipping here like I do in the mountain lakes of Idaho.

Grayton Beach, more white sand.

Now it is time for a sunset sequence.

I had scouted this site earlier in the day.

These images are not too bad but I wished I had made the mile walk over to the beach.

I was feeling a little like home here as a nearby forest burn was creating lots of smoke.

An early sunset and back to camp for dinner.
