Today the crew was looking for something mellow so we formulated an easy ride over to a nearby winery where we planned a short vineyard hike followed by a wine tasting.

It had rained this morning so we delayed our start slightly then hit up the town for some picnic supplies. A short ride over to the winery and we had our lunch. The winery is Chateau Lancyre which produces the wines we had been drinking all week for our carcoochery hour. (FYI, I am not misspelling charcuterie… Carcoochery is the name Larry applied early in the week and it just stuck!)

After lunch, we started our vineyard hike. Among the grape vines were olive trees.

Of course we had great views of Pic Saint Loup.

The sycamore trees were in full fall color.

Right in the middle of the vineyards was Chapelle Notre Dame d’Aleyrac.

The clouds were a bit threatening but never amounted to much.

As we hiked up and over the hill, the views of Pic Saint Loup reappeared with a slightly different feel.

A few minutes later and the clouds parted.

This image is actually from the next morning on our daily walk to the store. In the distance on the hill is Chateau Lancyre.
