It was great to be back in Lauret, one of my favorite places in the world! This time I was here with my sister Jill and my good friend Larry. If there is a cycling heaven, this is what it looks like!

My old friend Pic St. Loup! Pic St. Loup dominates the horizon from many vantage points in the area. It is always a good reference point to know generally your location around Lauret.

Close up! After the hassle and bustle of our Canal du Garonne trip the week before, it was nice to settle in to the quiet country roads of the Department Herault.

Our first ride in the area was on a Sunday morning and we passed a local auto club taking a tour of the area. They were very proud of their old cars and when I pulled out the camera, they all slowed to a crawl so I could get a good photo.

There is just something that I like about barb wire fences….. must be from my agricultural foundation.

I started Jill and Larry off easily with the spectacular views as it would be easy to overload their sensory systems to start off with the most beautiful scenery. I did however throw in this view of Pompignan along the way to start their acclamation.

The Claret Valley. I’ve shot this view a few times in the past!

After a return to the apartment, it was time for an evening stroll.

Red grape leaf highlights.

It was a wonderful way to start off our first day here at the center of the cycling universe!
