After a solid night of rain and moisture, I dropped out of the Rocky Mountains and onto the Great Plains of the Midwest. It was also time to really get off the beaten path and bag a couple obscure state high points. First up, Nebraska. Once again I got an early start hoping to shoot the sunrise over Panorama Point. Dense fog squashed any hopes of that but this field of hay bails was cool!

Hummmm, I figured this was going to be one of the safer climbs! I will just get on my bike and nab this one. And what is that? Three Bucks?

Gulp!

I guess they were not kidding, luckily these bison were behind that rickety fence!

I made it to the high point. Notice how they protected it from rubbing bison?

As I checked out the high point, I kept the engine running and the door open just in case!

As you might expect, the Nebraska state high point is literally steps away from Colorado so it wasn’t long before I was on the rolling plains of Eastern Colorado.

After a few hours, I crossed into Kansas and found another state high point.

Calling this one a mountain is a stretch at best. At least it was free! Check this video out, watch at least the first 5 minutes here.

Another few hours later, I arrived at my camp site in south central Kansas. Notice how these sites are getting increasingly more civilized?
