Turtle Rock – Buford, Wyoming

It’s time to beat feet and make some progress on this cross country road trip so I hit the road early. (I guess that I have not mentioned that I am on a cross country road trip…..) In the distance is, the Wind River Range. This is a legendary mountain range that I have very high on my bucket list for some future backpacking.

After a solid morning of driving, I arrived at this campground near Turtle Rock which I had stayed at on a previous trip.

All the rocks around here look like turtles!

After studying the map, I found a nice 3 mile loop trail around the rocks, it is actually one I had done a number of years ago with my daughter on a cross country trip but that was pre-davefaitlemonde so no trip report available.

After about 15 minutes of strolling, the weather suddenly turned and I started to hear thunder approaching. I put the camera away and headed for cover. I spent the afternoon in the van watching my Denver Broncos loose to the hated team from Las Vegas. Looks like another long year ahead in Broncos country!
