ITA – Cold Meadows (Day 4) – Frank Church Wilderness, Idaho

Scroll down to content

After a solid rain overnight, we woke up to a cool misty morning.

Puffy coats and coffee!

After breakfast, we commute to our work site a couple miles downstream.

High ho High ho, its off to work week go!

Today, our first stop is at a trail reroute section where a beaver dam has flooded the valley floor, it is all hands on deck.

This is the lower creek crossing and from here we bump over the mountain to Black Lake.

It is about 1200 feet of climb to the ridge but there are more than 80 trees which need cutting.

Dagmar’s crew bumps on by.

Before,

After,

Before,

After! This section of trail is really something special. Before reaching the ridge, we stash our tools and have lunch. We will spend the afternoon with brushing tools working the section between here and camp one more time. No images of brush work will be shown to avoid discouraging future volunteers to ITA projects…
