ITA – Total Immersion – Departure – Frank Church Wilderness, Idaho

Our flight out was supposed to arrive about 8:00 am but it had rained almost all night and we were a little worried about the plane’s ability to get in. We turned on the satellite communication and crossed our fingers. We were all defiantly ready to get home.

Kjell takes one last troll down the airstrip.

Although the rain, mist, and moisture was not good for flying, it did create some amazing scenes.

Back in camp, Annie had taken down her tent then sat in the dry spot for breakfast.

As the sun rose, a rainbow! There was hope that the plane may arrive.

We hauled all of our gear up to the airstrip and waited at the gate.

De Plane! De Plane! Thor arrives right on time!

This Kodiak is an amazing machine.

The ground crew loads up.

I had to take pictures and was not able to help load the plane. 🙂

Up and away we go. Luckily for Thor, most of us had taken a hot shower at Stonebraker Ranch the night before.

In all, we cut out over 2500 trees, walked, hiked, and backpacked over 150 miles, cleared over 18 miles of trail and brushed over 18,000 feet of trail. One last thank you to Tom and Pam our leaders for organizing this trip, The Idaho Trails Association for supporting this trip, the Payette National Forest for their leadership and guidance, and finally, my fellow crew members who all had varied and interesting personalities and were some of the hardest workers you could possibly find. You will be able to find more information and stories about this and future immersion trips on the ITA web site. http://www.idahotrailsassocitation.org
