Santpoort-Noord to Den Haag, The Netherlands

We say good by to our hotel here west of Amsterdam. You might notice the clouds…. in the Idaho wilderness we call those mare’s tails and they are a great indicator of rain within the next 72 hours.

After a comfortable night at the posh hunting lodge, we headed into the Kennemerand National Park.

The park is a preserve with rolling hills or mounds more like it and dense vegetation.

The lush vegetation soon transitions to the dryer costal dunes.

Not at all what I expected here in the Netherlands, the recent dry spell has left it feeling more like the African Savannah.

Park, city, town, or countryside, the theme is the same, cycling access.

Scottish Highlanders roaming in the park. I hear they are quite gentle in disposition but I did not try to pet him.

Riding on down to the south.

Eventually, we hit the coast.

Just one of the many country estates along the way.

Motor scooters can share many of the bike paths in the area.

Small communities dot the countryside along the way, I’m not sure which one this was.

Sunflowers!

Cycling along one of the many canals.

Back onto the coastal dunes, not show is the stiff head cross wind which ground on us all day. It was worth it!

More dunes.

Finally a shot of this tower before we rolled onto the busy streets of The Hague.
